Delightful Crab & Shrimp Huevos Racheros, even when eaten as takeout! I originally called the restaurant to see if I could place a takeout order, but no one answered and so I decided to come here in person for that on a Sunday morning. It was the only place in the immediate area that was open on Sundays, so I could tell right away when I'd stepped in how busy it was and with only two employees hustling (and at least 20 diners) that they just weren't able to answer the phones. The employees who were working that day were nice, even though it was so hectic for them and I never received any attitude from them. During the time I stopped by before 8am, the vast majority of the people I saw had dined in and there was only one other person beside me who had done takeout. After placing orders for takeout, I was told that it'd be a 15min wait and sure enough it was ready by then. Even though about 7-10min had passed between picking up the food and eating it and even without a microwave at the room we were staying in nearby, the Huevos Rancheros that I had and the French Toast that my boyfriend ate were both still delicious, which says a lot. Before this most recent time in mid November 2024, I had last stopped by during 2018 for a turkey sandwich and fries and remembered it being good, back then, too. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch and between the two, I safely assume that the place is much busier for breakfast. If you're looking for a place to grab a bite to eat for breakfast and/or lunch in this area, then the Moss Landing Cafe is an excellent choice.
We came here for fish and chip's and were not disappointed! Perfect batter coating, fried just right and some great French fries. Serving size was good too.
Wonderful service and food. Enjoy stopping here on the way to Monterey. Always satisfied.
The food is good, diner fare with a seafood twist. My companions had the Country Scramble with Crab & Shrimp, and I had the Pancake special w/two Eggs, Bacon and Fruit. The service was good (I think it was the cook that waited on us, because we were first in on a Tuesday at 7:00 a.m.). The ambiance is typical cafe decor and style. The only drawback was when I received my refill of coffee and put the creamer in, it curdled, so no more coffee for me, because it was busy and he didn't stop by again.
Solid food and service every time we come here. For months we had been driving by this place, pointing at the sign that claims they have fried artichokes. Finally we stopped to grab some breakfast and were amazed at the number of specials listed with locally caught fresh seafood. I wouldn't normally have eggs, pancakes, and fish, but this is the place is you really are a lover for seafood. Their lunch wraps, sandwiches, salads are also so good and they have the fries that I like - crispy battered fries. Grab a mimosa too, if you wanna lean in. And the fried artichokes is not a tourist trap; being that this area is one of the largest producers of artichokes, you have to try it and it's finger food that will convert even those who don't like veggies.
I have been here before, but it's been eons. We stopped in today on a flyer. His was good, mine was average. He had fish (Sea Bass) and eggs poached. Also came with hash browns and toast. His was tasty, tartar sauce was really good too. I got the Artichoke scramble and it was meh. The artichokes tasted like they came out of a can. Weird since they are grown down the street? It was very bacon forward, the bacon was ok. The salsa was unceremoniously dumped on top, and it wasn't very good. Overall it just wasn't very good. The hash browns were loose and not crisp or seasoned. The coffee was good. The server was nice but was swamped so his coffee sat empty for a bit. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. Plenty of condiments on the table, which is nice so you don't have to ask. I like that that this is a local spot. We will be back and I will get something else.
Sometimes you strike gold when exploring off the beaten path. We were trying to stay way from the tourist trap restaurants, and found this place. Small cozy place, the look can be deceiving. This is definitely a local go to. After arriving and ordering, the place filled up. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. I had the Mexican omelette - super good. I paid the extra $2 for the potato pancake, pretty fricken good! My friend got skirt steak - super yummy. Definitely will be making this a go to after our golf every year.
Small, cozy cafe in a quaint fishing town. The food is absolutely tasty and the staff is friendly. Service is fast as well! Will return to try more of their specials, for sure. We came here right after church, before the lunch rush. So we didn't wait at all. But by the time we left, there's a line outside, especially for big parties.
